Nad–Ned: Crochet passages

“Through the lows believe in the highs yet to come…”

My creative practice has always incorporated diverse materials such as fabric, metal, yarn, clay, and beads. For decades, I have been captivated by the transformation of mundane objects into profound expressions of creativity, crafting spaces and structures imbued with layers of meaning that transcend their surface appearances. This artistic exploration has reached its pinnacle as I investigate manifestations of hope through materials, navigating my challenges of multiple transitions and passages I have encountered over the past decade.

My practice enables my meaning-making: Buttons symbolize closure and containment, uniting separate pieces into a cohesive whole. Color evokes emotions and memories, shaping my perceptions of the world. Crochet weaves a tapestry connecting past and present, a testament to tradition. The swings capture the ups and downs of our emotions, representing the passage of time and its specific attributes. The crochet flowers mirror the transient nature of life, serving as a reminder of its fragility, beauty, and ephemerality. Each element, from swings to colors, encapsulates my state of mind and stages of life. Amidst these diverse materials and forms, the promise of renewal and ascent emerges.

In "Nad-Ned," I invite you to explore this journey of introspection and inspiration. Through a tapestry of colors and textures, may you resonate with your own experiences and emerge with a renewed sense of hope and possibility. Just as a swing reaches its apex after each descent, life too offers the promise of renewal and ascent.
